About ME
Hi!
I'm Mara, thanks for visiting my blog! I will be traveling around the world for the next years and explore amazing places in different countries! I am always seeking Adventures, Good Food, Martial Arts Experiences, Unique and sometimes Weird Stuff. \(^o^)/
BERLIN
Ahh Germany...It’s the Canada to our USA or the USA to our Canada?
However, even though it is so close to Switzerland, most Swiss people don’t travel to Germany often, unless it's OKTOBERFEST. I've only been in Germany for competitions and visited the cities afterwards. But this time I had a Shooting in Berlin, so I packed my things and flew up to the north.
Even though I wasn’t really excited at first, I soon found out that Berlin is a beautiful city and has many things to offer!
BRANDENBURGER GATE
At the first day I visited some touristic sightseeing hotspots in the MITTE neighborhood, like the famous BRANDENBURGER TOR.
Metro Station: Bahnhof Friedrichstrasse or Brandenburger Tor
HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL
Following the signs I found the HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL. A strange feeling overcame me, when I was walking among the Stelea. The stones looked like graves to me, even though they represent an ordered system that has lost touch with human reason. And I became even more thoughtful when I was seeing the names of approximately 3 million Jewish Holocaust victims at the underground information place.
What was incredibly beautiful to see, was that the stones were not destroyed by some mindless kids with graffiti sprays.
POTSDAMER PLATZ
I continued to walk to the POTSDAMER PLATZ, grabbed a coffee and spend some time writing. After my friend joined me, we visited the MALL OF BERLIN. There is also a German Spy Museum across the street.
MARKET & MUSEUM
We strolled to the GENDARMENMARKET, which is praised as the “most beautiful place in Berlin”. There we found some historical buildings and were surprised to see the GALERIES LAFAYETTE BERLIN - the original we had seen before in Paris.
Somehow, we ended up in the COMPUTERSPIELEMUSEUM - GAME MUSEUM, playing through our childhood, from Gameboys to VR. We had fun to play one of the first versions of Rampage and got stuck with my favorite game back in the day, Rayman.
Entry Price: 9 Euros, Metro Station: Weberwiese
MAUER PARK
For visiting the MAUER PARK we planned a full day. First, we walked through another historical Memorial before we rummaged at the Flee Market in the Park and listened to different Musicians all over the spot. Then we explored the districted a little and ended up walking along the SPREE.
Metro Station: Bernauer Strasse
MUSIC, VIEW & BEER
The day we finished with an amazing sunset above the roofs at KLUNKERKRANICH. There in the Neukölln Area we also found some other Night Clubs. Like the Griessmühle or Sameheads.
Metro Station: Bahnhof Rathaus Neukölln
Entry Price Klunkerkranich: 5 Euros
ALEXANDER SQUARE
The last day we spent mostly at the ALEXANDER PLATZ, where the famous TV TOWER is located, just like countless shopping possibilities and nice Cafes. I recommend the EINSTEIN CAFE, that offers an excellent Chai Latte ^.^
If you haven’t seen a BODY WORLDS MUSEUM before, you can take the chance to visit the somewhat creepy museum. Or get up to the top of the TV TOWER and catch a breath-taking 360° view of Berlin. get cheap tickets here
You can store your luggage in the lockers everywhere around the place. I even found a BUBBLE TEA Shop right next to the Station!
